Tech Tran Defense Fund!
Tech Tran Defense Fund!
Our dear friend Tech Tran is being held in jail. He faces serious charges and his bail has been set at 1.5 million dollars!
We are his friends, family and colleagues. Knowing who Tech is, and how much he has helped others, motivates us to be there for him!
We believe that he deserves the best possible defense.
Tech has worked hard to build a life where he is of service to others. Tech has been consistently committed to helping those in need, including people living with HIV/AIDS, LGBTQ+ individuals, and at-risk youth. He is the son of immigrants from war-torn Vietnam. He was born in a refugee camp in the Philippines and came to the U.S. as a child. Tech graduated with an MSW from Cal State East Bay in 2013. His love of learning has meant that he also completed certification in addiction counseling in 2016 and earned his credentials as a school certified social work specialist (PPSC) in 2016. But he has been working as a helper throughout his life. He helped his parents become United States citizens; he supported his sister with a mental health diagnosis; and he and his mom raised his sisters two sons when she was unable to take care of them. Tech married Veronica, the love of his life, and he is a devoted father to their two amazing young sons. Tech needs to be out of jail and reunited with his family so they can prepare for his upcoming trial.
We are still working to understand all of the charges that have been brought against Tech. What we know is that he was involved in an altercation with someone in his backyard. Tech shot that person in the leg with a gun filled with buckshot and then Tech called the police. There is no Stand Your Ground law in California. In fact the laws are the opposite. Tech is being charged with attempted murder, with an enhancement for using a weapon and with additional enhancements. If found guilty he could be facing 20 years to life in prison. We want to make sure that our dear friend does not go through this ordeal alone. Please join us in helping Tech - any amount is welcome and dearly appreciated!
