I am Tom Langton, a part of the Badger Crowd. I need your help to raise £12,000 in the next few weeks for essential legal work.

The government has launched a public consultation on a new policy that will allow poorly controlled mass badger culling to be arranged by the government's chief vet with her secret plans.

This may be our last chance to prevent unwarranted cruel and ineffective widespread badger culling before the general election. We must stand up again over dubious claims and omissions.

Our challenge requires a team of lawyers to investigate and prepare the right letters and documents and we are working away right now to a deadline of 22 April. We urgently need your help to raise £12,000 to complete their work and address this dreadfully flawed consultation as hard as we can.

If answers from the government are not satisfactory, the consultation may be considered unlawful.

The Badger Crowd have challenged Defra and the badger culls in England every year since 2016 - with the High Court finding them in breach of duty and exposing key details on cull plans and rationale beyond public view. Now we must challenge them again!

We are working closely with and alongside very many other wildlife groups and trusts (including Born Free, Wild Justice, Badger Trust Sussex and Badger Trust) and several generous individuals who have supported Badger Crowd's work in the past and are pleased to now have the fabulous Protect the Wild backing our efforts and Extinction Rebellion Nature Group too.

We can make a huge difference but we must hurry!
