Stop Online Attacks Against Pro-Palestinian Journalists
Stop Online Attacks Against Pro-Palestinian Journalists
Who am I? - My name is Peter Bolton. I'm a journalist with The Canary, a small online progressive publication with meager resources that nonetheless consistently punches above its weight. I have written extensively about the conflict in Palestine, human rights violations committed by the state of Israel, and the impact of the Israel lobby on British politics.
Summary - I am currently involved in a legal case relating to my writing about Palestine. I don't want to give too much detail right now given that it might get weaponised by the other side. But suffice it to say that, like so many before me, I have come under attack on social media for speaking out against Israel's crimes.
Call to action - I need financial contributions to press forward with my case, especially given that my anti-Palestinian opponents will no doubt have practically limitless resources by comparison. Please contribute whatever you can. I will never myself see or touch any of the funds raised from this effort. Rather, all contributions go directly to the law firm representing me.
What are we trying to achieve? - This case could serve as a turning-point in the fight for a public space in which no one gets targeted for simply speaking up for the Palestinian people. I see this case as being as much about vindicating others who have been attacked as it is about my own circumstances.
What is the next step in the case? - Again, at this time I don't want to be specific about the nature of the case. But I am currently at critical fork in the road and need further financial resources to move ahead.
How much I am raising and why? - I need roughly £4,500 to move to the next stage of the case, though, of course, costs will likely rise further should the case progress beyond this step.
Thank you for support.
In solidarity,
Peter Bolton
