Saving Mount Zion Bedford
Saving Mount Zion Bedford
The parishioners and friends of Mount Zion Church wish to ensure that the church remains led by those who are Trustees of Mount Zion Pentecostal Church Bedford. The building is a religious, community resource and hub. It serves, in particular but not exclusively the African Caribbean community.
The church has been run and led by members of Bedford's African Caribbean community for decades. The absence of the church would be a detrimental loss to the community.
The church itself was founded in 1965 it has seen the births, marriages, celebrations and funerals of many people within the community.
The current congregation who are made up of many elders in our community are looking for help and support to help fight the ruling given to vacate the property on Tuesday 17th January 2023.
The new Pastor who grew up in Bedford and was baptised at the church.
The current members were ordered to vacate the building so it can be handed over to a committee of people who
1. Do not have an affinity to Bedford
2. Have no history with the local church.
Unfortunately the person who originally managed the building made decisions that the congregation, and trustees whom have attended the church for decades were not party to.
The person was challenged by the congregation and Trustees. The Police and Charity Commission have been made aware.
Call to action - We Mount Zion Pentecostal Church Bedford are raising funds of £45,000 to dismiss the claims of trespass and enable them to be entitled to exclusive possession; as they have had undisputed possession of the Property since 1996.
