Aspire is an umbrella organisation for the African Caribbean communities in Reading.  We will build a cohesive community with a shared vision, a sense of belonging and equal life opportunities.

Reading Borough Council intends to sell our spiritual home The Central Club building with it's historic Mural to a commercial development who will destroy our much loved Mural which features our Black icons including Mary Seacole, Marcus Garvey, Martin Luther King Jr, Bob Marley and Nelson Mandela.

We cannot allow this to happen and need your support to raise the £10,000 to cover our legal costs for the judicial review.  Please give what you can.

The Mural is an important landmark and a fantastic piece of art popular amongst all communities in Reading.  It's destruction will deprive the African Caribbean communities of a significant part of their heritage and will expunge the the presence of Black people and the contribution they have made to Reading.

Losing this building will bring an end to the presence of African Caribbean community in Reading.  It will result in Black people not having anywhere to educate, entertain and celebrate in Reading depriving the wider community of the inspiration Black Culture brings to the World.

When we win we will build, own and operate a successful community hub to anchor the Diaspora by creating facilities and environments where all communities can live, work and play.

Once the money is raised we will instruct the lawyers to take the case to court.  Please help us to get there as soon as possible.
