I live in Ripon and I have a young son. I strongly believe that we need to be good ancestors for our children, grandchildren and for all those who come after us. Saving nature from being harmed is key

We are a grassroots campaign group trying to protect 10 healthy, mature urban trees, and one 200 hundred year old veteran beech tree, from being felled by Ripon Cathedral to build an £8 million development on publicly owned land.

  • You don't get to cut healthy trees down because you want to build a cafe on land that isn't yours.

  • The Church of England has enough land. It doesn't need ours as well.

At present, this application has still to go in front of the Planning Committee. We hope to produce expert reports to convince the Committee that this development should be refused and the Scheduled Ancient Monument be left both preserved and conserved.

  • We are aiming to raise £5,000 to ensure that the expert reports are of the highest standard and to be prepared for a judicial review if necessary.

Please donate if you can and share widely.

  • This decision will send a strong signal to developers that nature needs to be the first consideration-not a secondary. Nature needs a seat at the table.

Urban trees help with city cooling, especially with rising global temperatures.

This is a place of sanctuary for the local people- a place where many sit and listen to the birdsong and be at peace.

We hope that the Planning Committee will realise that precious green public land is not for sale to developers and throw out the application wholesale.

But we need to be ready for losing the first round.

  • Time is running out to protect the trees. But the will to protect and save them is not.

Many thanks- we really appreciate your support.
