I am a parent of a child in Y4 at Lily Park School, Golcar, Huddersfield (Formally Beech School).

We as parents are fighting the proposed plan to close the school and move children to another school. We are now fundraising to cover costs for a solicitor to slow down the consultation and hopefully put an end to this ridiculous plan.

Share Multi Academy Trust (MAT) propose to:

• Close Lily Park School
• Have staff reapply for jobs
• Move all children to Luck Lane
• Expect children as young as 4 to go on a school bus

No thought has been given to:

• How moving schools affects children
• How parents will get to and from activities at school
• That other schools in Golcar are oversubscribed
• The new houses being built in Golcar
• What will happen to the site if Lily Park shuts
• The affect on the school and wider community
• The wellbeing of staff
• The environmental impact of otherwise unnecessary bus and car journeys
• The safety of the already overcrowded roads around the Luck Lane site

Our school is a community and we want to keep it that way!!
