Ryan Clayton, of Americans Take Action, was taken into custody by DC police on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 and charged with Unlawful Conduct after exercising his right to Free Speech in the halls of Congress. Ryan threw small, Russian flags in the direction of President Trump as he walked in front of a crowd of reporters and chanted, “Trump is Treason, Trump is Treason.”
If convicted, Ryan could serve actual time in jail or be fined costly fees. The Trump Administration is attempting to use the police to make an example of Ryan, through egregious over-charging. He needs your help to secure the best defense to fight for his Constitutional rights and ensure that Donald Trump cannot persecute citizens for standing up and speaking out against him. He also needs to make sure that in the event he is fined, he is able to pay those fees to avoid jail time.
Your support will be used for his legal defense by securing the appropriate legal counsel and to pay any court costs associated with this case. This attempt to silence Ryan Clayton through the misuse of law enforcement and the judicial system is a risk to all of us - if Trump can silence Ryan, he could easily silence any of us. For more information about this fundraising campaign, contact (202) 656-2116 or visit www.americanstakeaction.com.
Ryan spoke out for all of us who are fighting this Administration’s possible illegal actions through legal protest. Let’s help protect Ryan now. Thank you.

Great news! Russia Flag Protester Case Update
Great news!
All the charges against the Capitol Hill protester who tossed Russian flags in front of Trump have been dropped.
Thank you to all who have donated generously to help fight for Ryan Clayton’s First Amendment freedoms when he was arrested while protesting for the Resistance.
Because of your help, Ryan was able to fight the charges against him and we wanted to update you on the status of his case.
As of this point, those charges have been dismissed. Hooray!
The only remaining issue for Ryan stemming from his arrest is the retrieval of personal property that was confiscated at the Capitol Building (including the flags!).
Our fundraising efforts were so successful that we raised more money than was necessary for Ryan’s immediate defense. Although there are no current charges pending, there may still be minimal risk with possible legal proceedings and costs for Ryan in the future as a result of his Congressional arrest. The organization Ryan works with, Americans Take Action, also has additional pending legal bills. The funds raised on Crowd Justice will be used for those expenses.
Thank you so much for your generous help in these matters. Because of your support, Ryan is able to continue speaking out against the Trump regime and voicing your concerns publically. Happy New Year!
P.S. If you need a full or partial refund (for any reason), please contact [email protected] for more details before 01/31/18. After that, all funds will have been used for other ATA legal expenses, including but not limited to legal fees and the retrieval of personal property confiscated during this most recent arrest.
