Putting a STOP to licensing of dog facilities that cause suffering
Putting a STOP to licensing of dog facilities that cause suffering
Who are we?
We are a group of concerned dog lovers who wish to put a stop to the ongoing cycle of inspections, closures and relicensing of Rosedene in Walsall and we are raising funds for legal advice for this purpose.
Please contribute now to keep Rosendene in Walsall closed so that no more dogs have the dangerous conditions inflicted on them.
Case background
Rosedene is a rescue centre that was trading under a pet shop license based in Walsall in the West Midlands.
Several years ago they were shut down by the RSPCA due to the terrible conditions, several dogs deemed to be aggressive were killed.
Conditions remained atrocious, vet treatment non-existent, dogs were shut in tiny kennels often left surrounded by their own excrement. Over the past few months a team of volunteers had been working to get the dogs out safely. Dogs were coming out damaged and sick but they are now all out thanks to a mammoth, coordinated team effort involving a number of rescues and charities. We have successfully removed 21 dogs to safe environments where they are now receiving the love and care they deserve.
Due to the aggression that many dogs developed during their time at Rosedene as a team we took the decision not to involve the RSPCA until the dogs that needed to be were safe. These dogs would be deemed unsuitable for rehoming and we believe they would have been destroyed due to the conditions they were living in.
We now have all the dogs in a safe place, some in foster and some now adopted into loving homes
Our next step is to get Rosedene closed permanently. We have evidence that ALL dogs were suffering from some sort of infection that was left untreated and ignored.
How much we are raising and why
We are hoping to raise £3,500 to £5,000 initially, so that we can put a stop to the ongoing cycle of inspections, closures and relicensing.
Whilst the dogs were still there we secretly got faeces tested to ensure we weren’t going to put any other animals or humans at risk by removing the dogs. All dogs have been receiving treatment.
We have been collecting evidence to provide a number of reasons why facilities like these should not be allowed to keep obtaining licenses from local authorities when they have clearly not met the standards required.
Animal Welfare Acts were put in place to protect the abuse and cruelty of dogs, if facilities are allowed to continue to trade under license from the local authorities in the knowledge that the facilities and treatment are cruel, then what options do we have but to fight for the voiceless so that no more dogs suffer?
