I grew up in a family where there was domestic violence. I was homeless and in care many times as a child. I decided early on that I had to improve my situation and worked incredibly hard to become a lawyer.

I worked my way through university and law school and  dedicated my life to my career. I established a law firm in 2010. I have  clean record and have been cleared of all allegations made against me by someone I hired as a Consultant when no one else would give him a chance. His father was a stockbroker and mother trained to become a barrister. When I met him he was unemployed but told me he was a barrister. He had been trying to become a film producer and various other things but had been unsuccessful. I felt sorry for him and wanted to give him a chance despite the fact he had had a golden upbringing as I am a soft hearted person. I wanted to help him.

In 2015 he made a potentially catastrophic error on a case. He also made other errors.
I told him that I would not be keeping him on as a Consultant and he was even present at interviews for a solicitor to replace him with me as I needed him to explain to them what had gone on. I’m very open and honest, that’s always the best way. He became involved in other activities and ignored my direct instructions. Eventually it became so bad that his contract was ended immediately. He knew all along he was going.

His records had been appalling but I had extracted all the details from him to help me repair the damage. I cannot go into it.

The client has never complained and was extremely happy with me and the eventual outcome I got after the person had left. He even gave evidence to say he was happy with me and had no issues with costs, only with the work done by this man.

The man claiming against me had been demanding huge sums of money on the case he had been negligent on and which I worked so hard on to fix I had ended up in hospital over.  I refused his demands and he then accused me of overcharging the client because he wanted more money and I would not agree it. He alleged he was doing all the work which he knew was not the case. I was working ridiculous hours and that was fully evidenced by the costs people He even acknowledged  that in emails.
He also accused another consultant of detriment and when she developed cancer and became terminal continued to pursue her. She has died now but he still pursues her through me.

In late 2019 after hundreds of thousands of pounds in legal costs I won the case. He appealed on a technical legal reason on the misapplication of case law by a judge. I now have to go through the whole thing again. Even though it’s been acknowledged that he was negligent and that he was self interested and wanted a bigger piece of the pie despite that. My business has been destroyed as has my health. I will never be able to retire.
He practices at two law firms and lives in Austria and a website talks about his other activities in negative terms . I have spent everything trying to fund this case and keep myself afloat whilst being attacked.

I will never recover from this. I am disabled and had multiple miscarriages and serious health problems during this matter. I’ve been shown no compassion by the person I felt sorry for and helped to qualify when no one else would.

There is a real chance this matter could go on for years and years as he appeals everything and is pandered to.

I need help with barristers fees as I cannot deal with this alone. The money will be used to pay the barrister. I’ve already sold my house in fighting this. The pandemic has made everything even worse.

I cannot ask anyone I know to provide legal help as he accuses them of various matters. 
The case is being reheard.

Please help if you can. I’m just a normal woman who has fought against the odds to become a solicitor and am fighting for my life with this case because it’s nearly killed me and has killed my former co respondent.

I have only ever tried to help people and it’s obscene that I’m being persecuted by a person I tried to help and was only ever good to.  Their work was negligent and I will not put up with that at my firm. I have my clients to protect. He was asked to leave because of that and nothing else. I will not be blackmailed by anyone and the first thing I said to him was go tell the SRA and the client I am not worried  I have nothing to hide. At no point did he suggest to the client that he should complain to me or the SRA, he simply demanded money from me and 7 years later I’m still in court with him because I said no.
