Please help a homeless retired man who was sold a dangerous and unliveable narrowboat.

My name is Ron Geddes I'm  a 74 year old widowed man with a heart condition. In November 2020 I spent my life savings (£90,000) on a brand-new narrowboat for me to live on in my retirement.

The narrowboat turned out to be a complete death-trap. A surveyor and a boat safety examiner told me it has unsafe electrics, gas, heating and fresh water which are a risk to life of anyone on board. The vessel lacks the basic safety conformity certification that all new boats should have by law.

I still have to live on this boat otherwise it could be taken away lifted out of the canal, so have been living between the boat and the back of a van through the depths of winter.

The boat builder said he would fix the problems but so far as done absolutely nothing and refuses to give my money back.

I am raising funds so I can sue this cowboy builder and get my home - and - life back.

Call to Action:

We are raising £10,000 to bring this boat builder to justice.

I cannot get legal aid for this type of work but have no savings to pay for legal fee's myself. I strongly feel this boat builder needs fully exposing to the general public so others do not get hurt. Hopefully I can get the monies back for a home and have another go at restarting my life

Any support I can get will be greatly appreciated, thankyou for taking the time to read this and for showing an interest in my case.

Thankyou

Ron Geddes
