Who am I?

My name is Maria McShannon and like most people my husband and I have had to work hard in order to own our own home, and provide for our family, so you can imagine when North Lanarkshire Council put our home at risk we informed them of our concerns as soon as possible.

However they took no steps to assess possible damage or to implement any reasonable protective measures, in fact they took none at all.

As there is currently development taking place in our area for the foreseeable future I am sure that many people may be suffering at the hands of North Lanarkshire Council’s failings.

Our Case

The Planning Department failed to enforce breach of planning control and conditions during the construction of a link road.

Our homes are damaged,  and despite going through the complaints procedure and uncovering their failings through information gained from the Freedom Of Information Act, North Lanarkshire Council are not prepared to reach any resolution.

Good governance was not followed, resulting in a required dilapidation survey not being carried out, and when notified of problems arising, no enforcement  notices were issued. Furthermore North Lanarkshire Council continue to grant planning applications in the immediate vicinity in the full knowledge of this damage and with reasonable expectation that further damage/damages will occur.

Your support or donations in our case will be greatly appreciated .
