My husband, British PhD candidate, Matthew Hedges was sentenced to life in prison in the UAE after being accused of spying for the UK Government. 

Matthew still has no clue why he was targeted by the UAE authorities. Despite having been pardoned and released back to the UK his conviction in the UAE still stands. 

The British Government have been clear that Matthew is innocent and we now need to pursue legal action to clear Matthew's name in the eyes of the law.

The public have been outstanding in their support of Matthew and myself and the rest of his family during our 7 month ordeal. During his five and half months in solitary confinement, he was relentlessly questioned about his PhD thesis on the UAE’s security structure in the wake of the Arab Spring. Throughout his ordeal Matthew repeatedly asked for a legal representation and his request was refused.

We are now seeking to bring this episode in our lives to a close by pursuing legal action to truly clear Matthew’s name.
