Challenging the mishandling of the Leicester Local Lockdown
Challenging the mishandling of the Leicester Local Lockdown
Who are we?
We are a group of 10 local Leicester businesses bringing legal action against the government for their failings and mishandling of the `Leicester local lockdown'.
We have worked very hard like many others in the Leicester business community to build our businesses, and despite statements that the Chancellor would do `whatever it takes', when the Secretary of State announced we would go into a localised lockdown, the Chancellor failed us by not creating Local lockdown business packages.
Our case
We are bringing our challenge against the Secretary of State for Health, Matt Hancock and the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak.
When the rest of the country can thankfully focus on starting to get back to whatever the new `normal' looks like, we continue to remain closed, facing severe hardship and feeling absolutely undervalued as a business community by the Central government.

Why are we raising funds?
We are raising funds to cover the costs of the Judicial Review Proceedings. We ask all to note this is a point of public importance and we sincerely hope that the public will appreciate the value in supporting this cause so we can fight for Leicester, its citizens and our business community.
For us to succeed in these proceedings, it is hoped that the Central government will compensate us for the losses we have suffered during the time there has been no additional package of support.
The Government should agree to be more transparent in the data it provides so that our Local Authority can act fast to keep the infection rate as low as we possibly can.
We will be lodging Judicial Review Proceedings against the Secretary of State for Health and the Chancellor raising the above issues.
Any support you are able to provide to us will be greatly appreciated.
