Who are we? 

A group of volunteers working with the local community to protect our green spaces and reduce the disproportionate amount of housing allocated to Boldon. 

This will have a hugely detrimental effect on the volume of traffic, the environment, infrastructure, pollution and services. We are passionate about the protection of valuable green spaces for generations to come. Once they are gone they're gone.

What are we trying to achieve?  

We need to instruct a solicitor specialising in planning and environmental law to review and challenge extensive documentation within the consultation period (regulation 18). They will then make detailed written submissions setting out reasons why the proposals may not be sound. There may also be a need to instruct topic specific consultants (such as transport, landscape or heritage) to provide reports that would form part of your consultation submission. 

What do we need to do? 

The community needs to fund raise for the fees but the solicitor cannot work on a shoestring budget and risk a half-baked job. They need the time to work through the information carefully to see where there is vulnerability. We have been advised that it can be worth making strong submissions now. It's possible to get sites knocked out at this stage. Local residents can also make a difference through your participation. How much we are raising and why? 

To raise a minimum £7,500 plus VAT for legal fees to instruct a specialist solicitor to try to knock out sensitive sites at regulation 18 stage.
