In 2017 my sister was brutally murdered by her ex-boyfriend, fuelled by an argument about child support payments.

Although he was convicted and sentenced to life in prison, prior to her death there were several agencies involved who failed to protect her.

We are fighting to have an inquest opened into Emma's death to try and get answers as to what happened and how it can be prevented from happening again. Please contribute whatever you can but most importantly share this page with your friends, family and on social media.

Case Background

In March this year, a domestic homicide review into Emma’s death was published. It made serious criticisms about how the child maintenance service dealt with Emma, and her pleas that the application be handled carefully because of the threat from her ex-boyfriend.

Despite this, the application was processed in the usual way and 9 days after making the application Emma was murdered! The DHR identified, “systemic issues in relation to how domestic violence and abuse are addressed by the CMS”. We do not, however, know what these are.

Legal Action

We are requesting an inquest be opened into Emma’s death to get accountability and transparency from the agencies involved, in particular, the CMS, who deal with so many women who have been victims of abuse and continue to be at risk.

We want justice for Emma, and her children, and to ensure changes are made so that other families don’t have to suffer as we have.

How much we are raising and why?

We are initially raising £2,500 but will then go on to raise as much as possible to ensure we have legal representation throughout this process. We are looking for financial support to pay the legal costs associated and that is why we have launched a crowdfunding appeal. All funds are transferred directly to our legal team.

We are partnering with the Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse in this campaign for justice.

Please help us to get justice for Emma and her family and to help other women who are in the same situation.
