Who am I? - Trustees and supporters of the Jericho Benedictine Society (in a judicial factory).

Summary -  In December 2024 the Jericho Benedictine Society, a charity that has been running for 55 years to assist those struggling with difficulties including addiction, homelessness and domestic violence, had a Judicial Factor appointed by OSCR.  The circumstances of that appointment  are being challenged  by the existing Trustees.  A Petition for recall of the Judicial Factor’s appointment has been lodged in court.  The aim is to put the Society back into the hands of Trustees and successors.  It will avoid the work that has been done over decades being unwound and properties in Scotland being transferred to a commercial entity as well as transfer of properties down south.  The Trustees and their successors wish to be able to continue to help the most vulnerable and in particular those who may not be able to afford the help they need.

Call to action -  As presently advised the Judicial Factor of the Jericho Society has been unwilling to engage in discussions with the Trustees to see if another solution can be found other than to effectively dissolve the charity.  We are raising money to proceed with the recall of the Judicial Factor’s appointment.  Please contribute whatever you can to help.

What are we trying to achieve? - The Society was founded in Greenock in 1970 to open houses for those being ‘passed by on the other side’ (inspired by the Biblical parable of the Good Samaritan). The Jericho Society has always been able to help those most in need, particularly those struggling with addiction and their families. Over the years we have helped and supported countless individuals and families, with great success.  We are fighting to be able to continue providing this much needed service.

The success of this case would see the Jericho Society being able to continue helping those struggling with poverty and addiction as well as their families.

How much I am raising and why? - For the first stage of the legal process we require to raise £20,000.

THANK YOU for your help and support! Know that your support is changing lives!
