STOP THE CLOSURE OF THE FOREST OF DEAN'S COMMUNITY HOSPITALS!
STOP THE CLOSURE OF THE FOREST OF DEAN'S COMMUNITY HOSPITALS!
We need your help to save our community hospitals and protect our NHS. We need your help, and we need it now.
Who are we?
The HOLD Campaign are a group of passionate residents from the Forest of Dean who are committed to fighting to ensure that the best health and social care is provided for the residents of the Forest of Dean.
What is the situation?
On January 25, NHS Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group decided to approve the closure of our 2 community hospitals, despite considerable opposition from the community. We believe the decision was unlawful and are applying for a Judicial Review to determine this.
What are we doing?
The initial stage of the process is to apply for a Judicial Review. We have been advised that for this initial stage we will need to raise £5,000 to cover legal costs for this initial stage. We have until April 25th to complete this application, to consult with barristers/QCs.
What is at stake?
If the NHS succeeds in its attempts to close our two current community hospitals and replace them with a single, smaller, new hospital we will be faced with longer travel times, longer waits for patients that need to be transferred from acute hospitals to community hospitals and potentially a decrease in the amount and quality of health and social care services.
Where did this start, where are we now and where do we go next?
The campaign was initiated when evidence that this was going to take place was leaked to the public last year and now we face the ongoing battle to ensure that the NHS listens to the people of the Forest of Dean which support keeping our two hospitals by a substantial majority.
We hope that you are able to help us save our hospitals like we have done twice before, and hopefully put an end to these attempts for good until a valid alternative is provided that will not result in the reduction of facilities, beds and services.
