This case is raising funds for its stretch target. Your pledge will be collected within the next 24-48 hours (and it only takes two minutes to pledge!)

About the case. The Pension Protection Fund (PPF) pays compensation to people whose company pension scheme has failed.  But it does this in a way which is unfair.  A lot of people have no indexation (meaning that their pension does not go up to compensate for inflation).  The effect of which is to penalise people for their age.

Age discrimination.  260,000 people are affected. (See diagram above)  Typically, a person aged below 40 will get indexation (adjustment for inflation) on their payments.  From 40 to 80, decreasing indexation.  Above 80, zero indexation.  With recent high inflation, this is hitting people hard and driving some into poverty.

This appeal.  To get enough funds to start the legal case, we are starting off with an initial target of £2,000 and a stretch target of £10,000.

Personal examples.

Consider the case of Mike.

“I will turn 79 in October and I am still working, just to keep my annual income up to what it would be if it had been linked to inflation.”

And consider these words from Chris.

“Having put aside monies for an indexed pension throughout my working life.” it is grossly unfair that my pension is the same as it was in 2004 – when I retired”

People like Mike and Chris deserve your support. Please give generously, and please share this case with your friends and help us by spreading the word in every way you can.

Losses already suffered have been severe, even through the period to 2022 when inflation was low.  A person on £10,000 a year in 2005, but with no indexation was still on £10,000 seventeen years later.  A person with indexation had risen to £14,000, having already received £35,000 extra.
