Help me get my wheelchair access ramp
Help me get my wheelchair access ramp
I'm Dawn and I've been in a wheelchair for 8 years. My knee was replaced after arthritis and I then ended up with a clot in the leg. I've also had recent battles with cancer in recent years.
I've not been able to leave my flat independently for all this time as there is no wheelchair access for my ground floor flat. I secured funding and have had designs for a ramp since 2019, but the freeholder isn't providing a license for work to commence. I've tried going to the press to get help, but even this hasn't moved the case along.
We're raising £1,500 to cover the legal fees to cover approaching the freeholder. The hope is that they will listen to our approach and provide the license. Please donate what you can afford and share this page.
It's not right that people with disabilities are pushed out of their homes, especially when adaptations are readily available. Winning this case would mean others know that they can't be forced out of their homes.
We will be making a legal approach to the freeholder and management company to try to get the license issued. They have said that the paperwork has been ready for almost a year, but it's never been issued or seen. We were told we'd see it in a week in April, and again in September, but nothing has come forward.
The funds will be used to pay for the solicitors time to investigate and produce a plan. They will then make an approach to the companies to try to resolve the license issue, hopefully, without the need for court.
Thank you for any help you're able to offer.
