We need your help to pay for legal fees for 85-year-old Carmen Briscoe-Mitchell, who has lost her home to publishers Hodder and Slaughter after an unsuccessful libel battle over a misery memoir her daughter wrote in 2006.

Since then the daughter, Constance Briscoe, a former barrister and part time judge, has been jailed and disbarred after being found guilty of two counts of perverting the course  of justice in a separate case involving MP Chris Huhne.

Police are investigating after a number of letters which were submitted during the libel case, have been queried by the doctor who says a number are false.

Please help us raise £6,000 for legal fees to begin to appeal the libel case and win Carmen's house back from the publishers in this "David and Goliath" fight.

Carmen isn't looking for compensation or fame; she just wants to enjoy her golden years in the security of her own home where her children and grandchildren can visit.
