STOP Unnecessary housing in Breedon on the Hill
STOP Unnecessary housing in Breedon on the Hill
The residents of the historic village of Breedon on the Hill wish to conserve their Greenspace by preventing the development of the proposed Lime Fields housing scheme consisting of 25+ new homes.
Case Background
Greenspace is vital not only for its ecological benefits but also for the access to its surrounding residents contributing to their well-being and quality of life – something which concrete-paved residential estates fail to achieve. Habitat, fragmentation, destruction and biodiversity decline are just some of the negative consequences of these apparent 'positive' developments.
This development will change the look and feel of this historic village forever
The Lime Fields Development is unnecessary because Breedon on the Hill has already reached it's quota of housing and a further 25+ houses in such a small village is not only unnecessary, it is also extremely insensitive to the existing residents and visitors to the settlement.
The village simply cannot sustain this development.
A recent scheme in the village, consisting of 14 homes remains 'unfinished' and is a blight on the landscape.
This scheme is unsuitable for the village for the following reasons:
- Sustainability: i.e lack of suitable services; shops, limited bus service, further pressure on doctors surgery which isn’t even in our village.
- Increased Traffic: visibility and very poor access to the site from Worthington Lane with an increased risk of accidents.
- Historical: substantially affecting the view to and from the Prior.
- Environmental: significant increased risk of FLOODING.
- Loss of Privacy: virtually every home in Breedon will be overlooked by this development!
Why This Case Matters to YOU
We also believe that as this is the first large Greenspace development – not just brownfield or a small Greenspace 'fill-in'– will pave the way for many future and larger developments in and around the village.
You may feel that this particular development would only affect its immediate and adjacent residents. However it could be coming to a Greenspace near you anytime. For that reason, we urge people other than those who may be directly affected to get behind this campaign and help us fight this development.
How Much We Are Fundraising and What it is For
To maximise our chances of success, we need to raise funds to employ a specialist legal professional who will formally represent the residents of Breedon against this ridiculous, unnecessary and unwanted scheme.
Our initial target is £5,000 which we MUST achieve to unlock the funds but we hope to reach £10,000. The funds, which will go directly to our solicitor's client account, would be used to pay for their expertise and time not only up to the decision stage, but beyond in the event of appeals by either side.
Please don’t leave it to others - this development will affect everyone in Breedon, so we’ve all got to do our bit to help.
I urge you to support this campaign TODAY to help save our village.

Peter Spencer, along with a group of residents from Breedon on the Hill, want to oppose plans to build 27 new homes on a greenfield site in the village We live in a 'Historic' village and this development will affect it significantly in many ways. High on the list of objections will be sustainability, traffic, affect on historic aspect of the village, lack of need and loss of privacy for many. We already have an unfinished development in the village and do not want another. Breedon cannot sustain this development.
