Funding for Judicial Review
We are a young Pakistani couple who married in a civil registry marriage whilst we were students in the UK without the permission of our parents, who object to our union, as we are from different castes.
We have since had a baby boy, and have now become a vulnerable family of three. We have been living in this country for nearly 7 years.
For a few years, we studied and worked legally, contributing towards tax and national insurance as other people normally do. Then, we realised that we could not give up our love for each other and took the big and risky step of deciding to be together always. We knew that we could escape the wrath of our families and Pakistani social hostility, and applied for asylum, which has been repeatedly rejected on the basis that we can relocate to a safe part of Pakistan. There is no such safe place.
A senior and acknowledged country expert has confirmed in a Report ignored by the Home Office that there is a high level of risk to us and our child, and that relocation is not an option for our survival.
Our marriage has been of our own choice, not arranged by our parents or family members. In our family and culture we are often forced to marry cousins and / or relatives.
We fear that if we are forced to go to Pakistan, we may lose our lives. Killing in the name of honour is a norm in Pakistan, where the majority of such cases are unreported, and the authorities often support the murderers.
I, the wife, lived almost 23 years of my life in Pakistan, mostly restricted at home, closely guarded by parents, family members, extended family members, and only being let out with male escorts.
My husband lived almost 24 years of his life outside of Pakistan. He was born in a different country, and lived there most of his life, which was broader, but his life was also closely dictated by his parents, My husband also comes from a minority in Pakistan. He is very vocal in his anti-Government views. He is also very active on social media. We are arguing that being part of a minority, being vocal against Pakistan.
Speaking against radical Islam, extremism, terrorism, speaking about treatment of religious minorities, ethnic minorities by government and army in Pakistan is very dangerous. Any where in Pakistan an angry mob can gather around you, frame you with so called blasphemy and can kill you just because you said something on social media.
Please help us to challenge the latest Refusal by raising enough to launch a judicial review.
And remember us in your prayers. We are two people in love who do not want to live apart or sacrifice what we have now. All of us are the creation of God. May God bless you
