British airline Flybe’s collapse in early 2019 wasn’t just unfortunate — it was avoidable. Investors believe they were misled. The company’s board made public statements about Flybe’s stability while negotiating a behind-the-scenes sale that wiped out institutional and retail investor holdings, large and small, overnight.

The impact this has had on me as an individual is irreversible. Life changing measures have had to be made, including having to sell assets etc. to survive. Mentally this has also been very challenging.

We are raising £48,000 to bring justice to what we believe amounts to multiple breaches of directors' duties. These funds will secure key documents that will strengthen our case against those responsible, by providing the evidence we need to prove misconduct and pave the way for professional litigation financiers to help us recover compensation for all investors. We have spent almost six years working towards this moment and without this funding, justice will never be served.

Press articles referencing the claim and its background can be found here and here.

Who we are:

We are a group of Flybe shareholders who lost everything when the airline was sold for 1p per share. Investors who made investment decisions in the company’s future based on statements from its directors, but instead, were left with virtually nothing.

Many suffered life-changing financial losses - one investor alone lost £350,000 - with many more losing large proportions of their savings and retirement accounts, with irreparable consequences for their present and future.

Now, after years of fighting for the truth, we have a critical opportunity to take legal action to bring balance to this injustice - but we need your help.

What are we trying to achieve?

This case is about accountability. The rushed sale of Flybe to Connect Airways, led by Virgin, was a disaster for shareholders. The airline had been trading at 16.4p per share, valuing it at £36m, just before the sale announcement - without engaging other potentially interested parties (such as IAG, parent company of British Airways).

The board's actions resulted in a devastating 94% loss to shareholders, and we believe they must be held accountable for their misleading statements and poor corporate governance. We are fighting not just for compensation, but to set a precedent so that no other investors face this kind of underhanded operation.

What is the next step in the case?

Our legal team will apply for disclosure of critical documents, which is the vital next step before launching full legal proceedings. This process includes hiring a barrister, covering court fees, and handling any compliance orders. If the respondents defend, costs may increase, but this step is crucial to moving forward. Once we obtain these documents, we can secure professional litigation financiers to take the case to the finish line; aiming for compensation against the directors' insurance, for all Flybe shareholders.

How much we are raising and why?

We need £48,000 to cover these legal costs. As a group we have put in as much money and time as we collectively can already over almost six years to get to this critical stage. This funding will allow us to take the next step towards compensation for those who lost their investments due to misleading statements and failed corporate responsibility. Without these funds, our fight for justice is over.
