I am unable to disclose my name due to concerns that both my child and I may face harassment and be put at risk. I am reaching out in the hopes of garnering support to raise funds for my asylum appeal. I am currently receiving assistance from Mrs. Usha Sood, a human rights barrister at Trent Chambers.

I am an Indian national who came to the UK as a dependent on my husband, who was employed here. Unfortunately, my marriage has been marred by domestic abuse, starting from the early days and persisting even after our move to the UK. This abuse includes demands for dowry from my in-laws, as well as physical and emotional mistreatment. I even experienced physical assault from my husband while I was pregnant. Prior to our arrival in the UK, my husband had promised that he would change, but the reality was quite different. He exercised financial control over me and continued to subject me to emotional abuse.

I sought help from the police in Manchester after an assault by my husband, and they took me to a safe place. However, false child abduction charges were levied against me. In reality, it is our 7-year- old daughter who is at greater risk of being taken from my care by her father and his family. Both of us are in danger if we return to India, where my husband recently returned.

I received assistance from an asylum agency to file for asylum, but it was rejected by the Home Office a few weeks ago with no right of appeal. We are now seeking funds to pursue our case with the Home Office through a judicial review and secure the right to appeal, which will necessitate additional evidence and an expert report.

I am seeking to raise enough funding to cover the legal costs of £3000 for my appeal. By contributing to this cause and sharing this crowdfunding page with those who may be able to help, you will not only be supporting me and my young daughter but also discouraging those who subject their vulnerable wives and daughters-in-law to lifelong domestic abuse when they have the opportunity to escape and become independent.
