Who are we?

We are two citizens who came to Norwich to protest against the global government lockdown policies imposed as a response to the ‘pandemic.’ We believe these policies are an attempt to “re-set” society and the economy in a way that will only benefit the ruling ‘elite’ and the global corporations. And in so doing they will crush human rights (such as the right to protest) and criminalise dissent.

What do we stand for?

We are Standing Up as free citizens against the unprecedented attack on our most fundamental freedoms and human rights. We take inspiration from Magna Carta and the long history of people in this country who have fought for their rights. We believe that the ‘lockdown’ policies are out of all proportion to the threat from Covid-19. The consequences for millions of ordinary people will be unemployment and closed business, mental health problems, and death from non-Covid illnesses that the NHS is no longer treating.  More people will be forced to turn to private medicine and the NHS will eventually be privatised in turn. As for the supposed panacea of a vaccination, we do not believe this is necessary, and will come at a huge cost. The vaccines are “high-tech” but have not gone through proper trials and there are real concerns about their safety and efficacy. We fear they may be made mandatory through ‘Health Passports’ and restrictions for those unvaccinated. The generalised attack on human rights is made manifest most of all by the criminalisation of those trying to protest peacefully against these measures.

Our legal case

We are all facing trial for allegedly organising a peaceful protest in Norwich on 24 September 2020 to protest about the government lockdown policies. The charges are under Regulation 10 of the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (No.2) (England) Regulations 2020. The Norfolk Police have asked for Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs) to be imposed on us both. These are designed to impose restrictions on criminals and terrorists post-conviction for very serious offences. This shows more than anything else how the police are intent on crushing all protest.

What are we trying to achieve?

We hope to argue that these £10,000 minimum mandatory fines are not just punitive, but an abuse of the fundamental law of this country. If we win then all other £10k fines imposed on protestors should be withdrawn.

What is the next step in the case?

We need to instruct our solicitor to draft Defence Statements, an Abuse of Process argument and prepare the case for trial. This will involve human rights arguments - in particular the right to freedom of expression (article 10) and freedom of assembly (article 11). A trial has been set for 2 days in Great Yarmouth on 29 and 30 March 2021.

How much are we raising and why?

We are raising £6,000 which is the current estimate of legal costs to prepare the case for trial.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, we hope you will support us.

More about the Norwich Two

Nigel’s story

I have recently become the Education Co-ordinator and joint co-ordinator for the UK for the World Freedom Alliance. As an osteopath with a first class masters, I spent four years at university learning to question medical research.  I saw very early on in 2020 that the political reaction to covid-19 far exceeded the risk posed by the disease.  At the first City Council meeting in June, I used my position as a City Councillor for Norwich to expose the lies – earning the title ‘covid-con councillor’ in the local press.  Like many of us, I turned to personal research both in academic papers and through making links with experts across the world in immunology, medicine, politics and economics. It was clear from the start that sinister forces were at work to bring in a global economic reset.  I witnessed the modern version of book burning in the banning of videos and papers questioning the official narrative.  I have risked my career as an osteopath and resigned as a Norwich City Councillor to enable me to actively campaign to regain the freedoms that have been fraudulently stolen from us under the guise of a global pandemic.

Piers' story

I am an astrophysicist and long-range weather forecaster living in London and have been active in the anti-lockdown movement in the UK since my very first protest in Glastonbury in April  2020. I have been arrested numerous times and I face several charges of breaching the Health Protection Regulations up and down the country.

After a long legal battle involving the instruction of a QC, I had one charge arising from a protest on 30 May at Speakers’ Corner, Hyde Park, thrown out; and although I was eventually convicted of the charge from 16 May 2020 I was given an absolute discharge. I also had all charges against me in Sheffield dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service. This shows that if we fight we can win.

I am now intending to stand as Mayor of London in order to make a wider political impact, and carry our message forward.

Victory!

We are very pleased to announce that the Crown Prosecution Service have dropped the case against us both following a letter sent to them by our solicitor Richard Parry from Saunders Solicitors in London.

This has saved us not just from the consequences of a criminal conviction but also from the prospect of Criminal Behaviour Orders that could have restricted our access to the internet and prevented us from protesting in the future.

Our solicitor had been prepared to argue that these prosecutions which can carry £10,000 fines are an abuse of process as they are contrary to Magna Carta and the Bill of Rights - which guaranteed, in perpetuity, that “excessive fines” should not be imposed upon the people of England.

However, as the Prosecution failed to serve all the evidence as ordered by the court, and dropped the case, no legal arguments in fact took place.

We hope that everybody else fighting for freedom and against lockdown takes heart from this victory.

We thank all those who gave so generously to help defend us against this absurd prosecution.
