My case
I and my siblings have been left devastated by the loss of our dad. He was on a life support machine for two weeks. In the third week, we were sent for by the hospital. On arrival we saw that they removed his decades old beard because they were afraid of him getting an infection.
We were told that he had a still unnamed virus which he would not recover from. I asked from what date had he had this virus and they said he had it the day he went to ICU. When quizzed about it they never gave answers as to why he was being kept alive and why were none of the many visitors he had were told about this.
We were asked to say goodbye while in shock but what made this worse was that they removed life support whilst we were in the room. The last memory I have is of someone I didn't recognise because I had never seen him with no beard gasping for air. Two days later, the Council refused to accept his death certificate as we said he died of a virus and there was no mention of it on his certificate.
Why am I raising funds?
I have pursued the Belfast health trust for his medical notes and years later I still am. I need this money to further my case as the trust want me to pay £700 before they even consider me seeing notes. I'm exhausted by the whole thing and I just want to find out the truth about my father's death.
