Challenging the NI Covid19 Restrictions on the Close Contact Industry!
Challenging the NI Covid19 Restrictions on the Close Contact Industry!
The NI Executive introduced restrictions on 16 October 2020, forcing the closure of the Close Contact industry for a period of 4 weeks. The principal issue we have, is this is a disproportionate restriction to our industry, in comparison to other sectors of the economy.
Close Contact Businesses?
Hairdressers, Barbers, Tanning Salons, Nail Bars, Tattoo Parlors, Make-up Parlors, Spa & Massage Centres, Health & Holistic Centres, Dress Fitters, Tailors, Fashion Designers.
We take this action on behalf of the entire Close Contact industry in Northern Ireland.
Who are we?
We are 3 industry representatives - Naomi, Jason and Michelle, highlighting the unfairness of these recent restrictions.
Crucially, we need to ensure that in any further lockdown measures, the Close Contact industry is not treated unfairly again.
Naomi Holmans - Roamer Health & Holistic Clinic.
My family run business is an award winning, boutique salon nestled in the heart of Newtownards. We have combined experience in excess of 40 years.
Jason Shankey - Shankey Salons.
My business has been built up over 23 years, comprising of 4 Salons across the Greater Belfast and Holywood areas.
Michelle Young - DKY Hair Company.
I have been in the hairdressing business for 10 years, our Salon in Bangor has been a huge success due to the passion and dedication of our team of 13 staff.
What can we do?
We can have these decisions by the NI Executive challenged in Court through what is called Judicial Review. Our goal is to ensure in any future covid restrictions, the Close Contact industry is treated fairly. This is the best option in an attempt to protect our businesses.
