In November 2016, Charles Todd Henderson was elected as a Democrat to serve as Jefferson County District Attorney. Just days before he was to be sworn in, Republican prosecutors indicted him on perjury charges to prevent him from taking office. The perjury charges stemmed from an old domestic relations case and marked the first time for charges of those kind to be brought against anyone in history in the state of Alabama.  The case was prosecuted in October 2017 by the Alabama Attorney General's Public Corruption Unit, and though the jury returned to the Judge twice without a decision, they were ultimately pressured into rendering a verdict. The case is now in the appeals process, and Charles needs our help to right this injustice.

Charles Todd Henderson is an honest man who has always been actively engaged in serving the community.  From service projects with his church to assisting with neighborhood clean-ups to providing legal assistance to veterans, Charles has always been a genuine public servant.  He was elected District Attorney by a majority of voters in Jefferson County on a platform of criminal justice reform and equal justice for all. Now the voice of the voters has been taken away and the power to appoint a new District Attorney given to Alabama's Republican Governor.
