We are a group of families living in Lancashire whose children have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Over the last few years we have seen the catastrophic impact of cuts to funding for our children. We are taking legal action to fight against these cuts - please contribute now and share this page with your friends, family and on social media.

Case Background

OFSTED have very recently identified that disabled children in Lancashire are being failed by their local authority.

Despite their findings, those responsible for making decisions on behalf of our most vulnerable children are now considering cutting funding even further and taking away the short break activities that are vital to our children.

Short breaks are critical to the development of our children. All children need to play and be active and that includes disabled children. Social interaction is essential to the healthy physical and emotional development of all children. Disabled children need to have the opportunity to develop friendships and a sense of belonging to a peer group.

Cutting Lancashire Break Time Funding will mean that all the clubs, groups and activities that are so vital for our children will disappear.

Our children won’t have the same chance to form friendships, play and be part of their local community. Our most vulnerable young people will become more marginalised, isolated and excluded.

How much are we raising and why?

We are fundraising to instruct a specialist barrister to advise us on the merits of bringing a legal challenge against Lancashire County Council and to enable our legal team to gather evidence for bringing a Judicial Review. By donating to and supporting this judicial review you will help us to make sure this vital service is able to continue.

Any contribution you can make would be fantastic and most importantly please share this page on social media.

Testimonial from a parent:

"Our daughter has benefitted hugely from the Lancashire Break Time clubs and activities. It is a joy to see her interacting with her peers in an environment where she isn’t judged but is valued, encouraged and stretched. Our daughter loves her special sports club and her holiday club where she can safely try new activities in the same way as all other children do in the holidays. Whilst she is enjoying her time away from us we can recharge our batteries and do some of the things that other parents can take for granted. Lancashire Break Time activities are a Godsend and without them, life for our complex, unique and challenging family will be even more difficult."

Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who has supported our campaign so far and helped us to reach our initial target so quickly. The level and depth of support  for this campaign is clear in all the comments that have been left. We have now been able to instruct the professionals at Irwin Mitchell solicitors to act on our behalf and the legal team are looking very carefully at all the documents regarding Lancashire Break Time funding. The consultation is closed now. In May the consultation outcomes will be reported to the Cabinet and we will be watching very closely for any decisions that the local authority make following the end of the consultation. We will keep you posted of our action through this crowd justice page. Once again thank you for your support with the campaign and please keep sharing our page.
