Support Midwifery Bullying Whistle-blower
Support Midwifery Bullying Whistle-blower
My Name is Samantha Maloy, Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
I was bullied whilst I worked as a midwife at a NHS Trust. I have been a midwife for 14 years, 12 years of which were blemish-less, no complaints and no investigations.
This changed with the appointment of the new Head Of Midwifery in 2015. Between Oct 2015 and Oct 2017 I under went 7 investigations, only 3 where proven but this was enough to finally lead to my dismissal for Gross Misconduct.
I believe the bullying was instigated as I was a union representative and frequently entered into difficult negotiations against management to obtain a positive outcome for my members.
I am asking for your support to take the trust to court, not purely for financial recompense. Although given my current situation this would be welcome, but mostly to highlight the bullying culture in the caring profession. Ultimately it is mums and babies that suffer. That's not right.
Over the course of two years I was made to feel demoralised, I was unable to talk to my colleagues or communicate effectively with patients.
I've now lost my career and a betrothal. I consider myself to be a strong person but have been on the brink of suicide. I have now found the strength to stand up and take the trust to court for bullying behaviour leading to unfair dismissal. But I need your help.
I currently am unemployed and have no income. I am unable to gain another job as a midwife as I have been referred to the Nursing and Midwifery Council. No other trust will employ me as I'd be on supervised or suspended practice until that case is resolved. This could take a further 3 years.
I am passionate about the care of pregnant women and helping them when they most need someone to be there emotional and mentally.
I have engaged a solicitor and set my targets according to her advise of the cost. So the next step is court, please support me in support women achieve the care they deserve.
