"Daddy, daddy, we’re going to daddy’s"- Stop Akeem's deportation
"Daddy, daddy, we’re going to daddy’s"- Stop Akeem's deportation
My name is Nicole, I am Akeem Finlay's partner. I am a mother, part time nanny and part time MBA student in Human Resources.
My partner, Akeem, has been given deportation orders and the Home Office have also booked him on a charter flight to Jamaica, and I am desperately trying to stop his deportation.
About Akeem and Us
Akeem was sent from Jamaica after his father was killed. He has no family in Jamaica, and even his grandparents and cousins live in the UK who he regularly takes care of. Akeem's mother has breast cancer and he visits her every few days to check on her health.
Akeem has three sweet children from his previous relationships, they are Kadeen (9), Kaziah (7), and Kairo (5). I have a son, Reigan (5) who lives with me and Akeem. Since Akeem has been detained he has been heartbroken. Akeem picks up and drops off Reigan 3-4 times a week to school, as I am either working or at university, and I rely heavily on Akeem. He also attends parents evenings for Reigan.
Akeem is a very loving and caring father, and every weekend his children Kadeen, Kaziah, and Kairo come and stay with us till Tuesday evening. Kadeem starts to get excited every Friday evening and says 'daddy, daddy, we're going to daddy's'.
We have a very strong family unit and Akeem and I provide a loving and supportive environment. Kadeem was asked how he would feel if his dad was sent away, to which, he said 'I love my dad and would miss him a lot.'
He was involved once in a criminal incident, which was when he retaliated in an incident when he was attacked by a group of men. He ended up being hospitalised, served his sentence, and since his release 3 years back he has never looked back and focused on his work and family.
Legal Case
I am trying to raise money so his lawyers can challenge and stop his imminent deportation. As a part-time working student, I cannot afford any of the legal fees, and need your help in order for his lawyers to put together the strongest challenge to Akeem's deportation.
If our challenge is successful, Akeem can continue living in the UK, caring and loving his children, we can get married, and continue building our lives how we wanted. We love each other, want to start a family, and spend the rest of our lives together and get married.
The Home Office has already chartered a flight to Jamaica, and Akeem's name is on it. We need to prepare further submissions to halt the deportation, and also apply for an injunction so he is not forcibly removed. We need to instruct medical, psychological, family impact reports. We need to show the Home Office just how devastating our lives would become if Akeem was deported. We then need to put together a Judicial Review case against the Home Office, to explain how deporting Akeem would not be proportionate to me and the children that rely on Akeem for everything.
What we are raising
We are raising £20,000, which is the realistic cost of lawyers preparing further submissions, instructing various experts for the reports needed not just for Akeem, but the impact report needs to cover myself, my son Reigan, and Akeem's three children. We need to instruct a robust barrister who will be able to fight tooth and nail for Akeem in obtaining an injunction and then arguing in his Judicial Review case. The barrister will need to be someone highly experienced, who understands what is at stake, has experience of winning such cases, and will most likely need to fight his judicial review case. The funds raised will also pay the various court fees - injunction, bail, judicial review - needed at each stage along with disbursements.
Thank you
Myself and the four children, are all British citizens, we have no connection to Jamaica, no family or links. Neither does Akeem either. All of our family, relatives, friends, and children's friendship links are in the UK.
We are British citizens and I should not have to risk Reigan's future so that we can keep our family together.
Thank you so much for reading my plight, and I hope you will support us in our time of desperation.
