This plea is for a Moroccan mother, a qualified doctor who is currently staying in a refuge with her seven month old infant (born in the UK) after escaping an abusive relationship with her husband, who is also a professional doctor. She is worried about her and her son’s safety and is completely alone and without any family in the United Kingdom.
This Mother's Story
The mother had come to the United Kingdom with her husband (as his dependent) after they got married in 2022 to re-train and work in the NHS alongside him. She had already completed exams, some training and worked for a short period in the NHS before she found out that she was pregnant. The mother stopped working to prepare for the birth of her child and to look after him during postpartum.
The mother is now looking for funding to cover her legal fees in order to extend her stay in the United Kingdom with her son. She does not want to be separated from her son nor leave him with his father. The father is a dangerous man who has threatened to kill both this mother and her son.
Throughout her marriage, her husband was controlling and coercive to her. He restricted her freedom and reprimanded her for attempting to exercise any independence. He is also proven to be very violent and incapable of being a reliable husband and father figure. He has physically abused his wife, leading to bruises on her body. The mother is concerned for her child’s welfare in his custody. He has displayed signs of serious aggression, such as threatening to cut her throat open. He has also threatened to throw their child out of a window. She loves her son very much and worries deeply for his safety.
She had no other choice but to run away from her husband to ensure that he could not hurt her or her son. She is currently in a refuge, and being protected from the intimidation and violence (that her husband may take against her) by non-molestation proceedings in the family courts. However, it is absolutely essential for her to extend her Leave to Remain in the U.K independently for the benefit of herself and her child.
Why we need your help
This is to ask with urgency for those wishing to assist to donate to help give her the security that she needs to restore her family life. The funds that will get together will specifically cover immigration legal fees to make an application so that she can permanently remain in the U.K based on the domestic violence immigration rules.
Her legal team is led by Ms. Usha Sood, an accomplished barrister from Trent Chambers who has plenty of experience in cases very similar to this.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and please contribute whatever you can to support the mother, her child, and their future.
